  2.    trace [<server>]

  4. Description:
  5.    This works something like the Unix traceroute utility.  It displays
  6.    the route from the client's current server to a remote one.  It
  7.    additionally will display any irc operators currently on the remote
  8.    server, as well as any other servers connected to it.
  9.  
  10.    If no server is specified, the connections (operator, server) to the
  11.    current server are displayed.  This is a convenient method of finding
  12.    a local irc operator.

  14.    TRACE can also be used to determine where a network bottleneck is if
  15.    traffic to some users appears particularly slow.  If the output stops
  16.    before completion, it can be assumed that the problem probably lies
  17.    with the last server that replied to the trace, or the next one
  18.    downstream.
